Camp Discovery week one highlights

Camp Discovery got down and dirty and lit up the room in our first week! Campers ventured out to fly high at Catch Air and SkyZone this week which included a glow party dance off. Then we got down right gross with the Gross Science Fair with bugs, hair, and things that made us go what the...? In between the rain showers we made waves of our own with water play and an amazing visit to Piedmont Pool. Next week we're going digital...Stay Tuned!

End of the year Block Party! Discovery 2014

Tinker Tinker Tell A Story This year's Discovery Block Party had our kids taking everything a part and putting it back together. For the last few weeks our children divulged their imaginations to piece together stories from non-veggie eating zombies to bees building a hive. Their stories included wacky pictures and props constructed from the ground up to bring their stories to life. Stories weren't the only thing being constructed. Check out our kids breaking down and building up new structures with legos, Styrofoam planes, and more. They also enjoyed tearing apart old computers and more to see what makes them tick.

Thriller Discovery Style

Goblins, Gouls, Super Heros and more crowded onto the middle green and paraded their costumes and dance moves to the classic Halloween theme song Thriller by Micheal Jackson. Smoke rose up into the trees while our kids skipped, scurried, and performed their version of the classic moves. The day followed with building their own cupcakes, Halloween themed pictures and more. Tap / Jazz Dance

Shuffle, Ball, Spin The Jazz & Tap class is continuing to learn the dynamics of jazz dance by first learning the steps barefoot and putting on their shoes.

Making Play dough with Pre-primary & Pre-kindergarten

Discovery's pre-primary and pre-kindergarten class had a blast making homemade play dough! Mixing flour, salt, food coloring and a few special ingredients, they loved using science to create toys.

3rd - 6th Grade Discovery - "Solar Ovens"

The third through sixth grade Discovery classes  tried their hands at outdoor cooking by building a solar oven and roasting some sweet, sticky s'mores. Black paper, foil, and an old pizza box sufficed as an oven to place in the sun to melt the chocolate and turn the marshmallows to sweet goo.
