Designamite pt.2
With this semester of DESIGNamite, the TCS 1st graders had the opportunity to design individual and team projects for Piedmont Park. Each student designed a new logo for the Piedmont Park Conservancy after exploring the rich history of the park. Over several weeks, the students in teams developed a building and site model for a future Piedmont Park project. Many 1st graders contributed to their team projects by painting parts of the overall model, including different building elements and volumes. Other students chose to develop the site by adding sidewalks, bridges, gardens, shrubbery, and playgrounds. On April 14th, the TCS students presented their work to parents and schoolmates. DESIGNamite finished the session with smiles and the satisfaction of learning more about architecture, design, and their community.

Discovery Science Explosion
On Friday, March 27, TCS hosted the Discovery Science Explosion, in partnership with the Atlanta Science Festival. STEM [Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Education] collided with the arts on the TCS campus, where students participated in science experiments, project-based engineering opportunities, and other learning initiatives created and facilitated by our Discovery students and teachers. It was truly an EPIC afternoon of fun!
